Charter for Judgement Free Company of Midgard

Judgement is a semi hard core raiding Free Company on Midgard. Our goal in Final Fantasy 14 and in online gaming in general is to have fun and play as a team continuing to beat new challenges implemented by
Yoshi P. and other developers. We don’t race other free companies to be the first to overcome a collection of pixels at the expense of our members. We maintain our belief in team first, members first, friend’s first, and family first while still advancing through end game content and having a lot of fun.

Judgement is comprised of “old school raiders” who have played many MMO’s over the years. We are the old guard, the ones that are used to waiting for hours/days at spawn points, taking weeks/months to get to max level, spending hours upon hours in raids. Our values learned at the start of our gaming careers remain with us. Even though now we have family, jobs, and other responsibilities that don’t let us play like we used to, our core remains the same.

Free Company First: We expect all members to ensure that all actions they take are done in the mindset of “free company first”. Anything a member does reflects on the overall free company image and on all fellow members. We expect members to only take actions that reflect positively on the free company image that we have worked very hard to build and maintain since this game began.

We recruit the person not the character. We look for good people, not only a job that meets a specific set of requirements.

We are a team of friends; we hope that you will back your guild mates, not because it is expected, but because you know they will do the same for you. Judgement members understand that sometimes personal character sacrifice is needed for the team to complete a mission. We don’t view it as a personal sacrifice however, because we are helping out a team of friends and that is more important to us than loot or pixels on a screen. Games come and go. Judgement and the friendships within it remain.

Standards of Conduct
These standards go hand in hand with our core guild rules, but they bear repeating so all future members understand what we expect from our members. Those standards of conduct include, but are not limited to:

· Members may not use cheats or exploits of any kind. IF you use a parser in game you must never speak of it within the game or you will be kicked immediately.
· Upholding of all free company values and rules is required of all members. There are no exceptions whether you are a member for 10 days or 10 years. All members must maintain the values of the free company.
· Members need to behave in a mature, professional, team focused manner. Self focused, loot focused, immature people will not be tolerated.
· Personal attacks on members are not permitted. Handle issues with another player one on one in a mature way. Seek an officers help if needed, but please do not personally attack other members, it only leads to excessive drama.
· Backstabbing, ninja looting, stealing from, or scamming members is not permitted.

Any issues with free company policies are brought directly to an officer via tell or message on the free company website. Publicly bashing members or complaining about other members in free company chat is not tolerated. Arguing with a raid leader/officer/member or vocally complaining during raids will not be tolerated. At the end of this charter you will be asked to check the box if you have read and agree. Do not check the box. Please use tells in a civilized manner to resolve any issues you may have with decisions made. Failure to comply will result in immediate removal from the free company.

Ranks
· The GM and officers share the same rank. Judgement is comprised of a ruling counsel of seven people.
· Raid Leaders lead the raids. Please treat them as you would any other officer, with respect.
· Raiders are any members who are eligible for raids and raid with us. Raiders get raid spot and loot priority over members and friends and family.
· Members are people not interested in raiding with us, but enjoying the atmosphere that Judgement provides or raiders who temporarily have stepped out of the raiding scene to take care of real life matters
· Friends and Family make up a group of loved ones and friends we enjoy being with. They are not raiders or members. There is no application process for friends and family, but invitation only. If a friends and family member decides to raid at any given point they will be required to submit an application the same as all raiders.
· Recruits are hopeful raiders. Once a recruit has met the raiding requirements they will be ranked up accordingly.

Judgement is comprised of like minded members who want to have fun, enjoy the company and accomplish certain things. We can do this by following the rules for raiders and helping all obtain their desired level, but, you must also work for yourself, get out there and do the instances, farm the tomes, and do the needed work on your character yourself! We are not in the business of hand outs; we do not carry people through raids, primals, etc.

Mumble is used and expected to be used by all raiders. Having a microphone is required. You do not have to talk, but we need you to be able to talk if the encounter requires. This game waits for no one, no matter how fast you type.

We expect our raiders to be fully prepared for raid time. This includes having proper food, pots, having full understanding of the encounter by watching videos or doing proper research beforehand.

Raiders must understand their job and rotations and have all needed subclasses leveled. If you need help with anything it is always best to use Google first, ask an officer or member second. There is a wealth of information out there. Please do not expect the free company members to give you a rundown of your job. You should already know it, and know it properly.

If an officer or raid leader offers suggestions on how to improve your job if they see you are lacking somewhere please do not get mad, tell them “you know!” or anything like that. We are all here to beat the boss and get the loot, if you receive constructive criticism take it as that, constructive. We are here to help, not tear down.

Please do not complain about being left out of a group if you are constantly late, ill prepared, not properly geared, or lacking in job knowledge. If you do not understand what the term best in slot means or only buy gear based on how it looks or do not have all needed subclasses leveled, you will not be taken into raid.

Please take responsibility for your own actions in raid. Do not throw people under the bus, do not blame everyone but yourself. Mistakes happen, fights take time to learn. Own up, fix it and move on.

If you know or plan to be inactive for longer than 2 weeks we ask that you send a private message to an officer or raid leader, letting them know the approximate duration of inactivity. If a raider or member is inactive for longer than a month without notice, that raider or member may be removed from the guild. If a member wishes to return after having been removed for this reason, that member will need to speak with an officer to rejoin the free company. Raid spots cannot be held open for any extended period of time.

Within Judgement there will be recognition that home and family life come first. Leaving a raid or group at any point for “real life issues” will never be questioned and will never have a negative impact on eligibility for future groups or raids. However, where members know there is an extreme likelihood of real life taking over they should inform any raid or group beforehand.

Applicants for Raiding

All applicants will be reviewed by the officers. This may take up to a week depending on real life responsibilities. You will be asked to run something with a team of free company members. This ensures us that you can follow directions, understand your job, are properly geared, have subclasses leveled and understand game mechanics and how to avoid them.

All applicants will be brought into the free company on a 2 week trial basis. During that time the officers will collect feedback and observe the new recruit to see if they can:

1. Fit into the free company’s culture/community
2. Attend the events they said they would in a prepared and organized manner.
3. Perform at a level that the officers feel will work with regard to the free company’s goals.

Based on these three things, we will determine if full membership is offered or other course of action needs to be taken.

Teamwork

Teamwork is the cornerstone of our free company. The free company was founded to help out like minded player’s quest, level and excel at the game of Final Fantasy 14. This doesn’t mean everyone is required to drop whatever they are doing and help someone else, but if you are free and able to answer the call for assistance please do so, it will only better the folks you are helping and the free company as a whole. It also serves as a way to get to know your fellow team mates. To this end we also encourage the use of Mumble when not raiding for social interaction.

Conversely, if you ask for help and no one answers the call do not get angry, do not expect attention at all times, do not badger your free company mates for assistance.

Free Company Chat and Mumble

We realize that profanity can be seen from time to time in free company chat. The officers of the free company encourage you to use the profanity filter in game if you do not want to use or see that type of language. However, please be kind to your fellow members, as continued harassment of any kind will be dealt with swiftly.

Mumble is set up with different rooms for different activity. Raid rooms are closed rooms. If there is a raid going on you should not enter the room unless you are in the raid. While raiding, raiders will not be allowed to talk over the raid leaders. We like to have fun in our raids, but while the fight is engaged please refrain from speaking unless you are the raid leader.

Sexist, Racist, Homophobic, Ageism or any other discriminatory abuse will not be tolerated in free company chat, raid chat or in mumble. The officers at Judgement recognize that certain terms may be used light-heartedly and with a sense of irony, but if at any point conversation causes offense it should immediately cease and desist. Members engaging in discriminatory abuse will be given ONE warning and then on further occurrence removed from the free company.

At this point you would expect me to put in a line that looks like this: Members should refrain from discussing politics, religion, illegal activities, sexual orientation, or explicit sexual acts in the free company forums chat or Mumble, but I’m not going to.

We are all adults. This kind of conversation happens, and it happens a lot in our chat and on Mumble. We enjoy a spirited conversation on many diverse subjects. We only ask that if someone in chat or Mumble takes offense to what is being discussed that they ask the party discussing such matters move to a private room or take it to private chat to continue the conversation.

Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in immediate dismissal from the free company.
